I was planning on going to my creative feed team tonight but that was cancelled. I then debated whether or not to go to a different meeting at church so I had something to do; sometimes I just like places to go. The kids are staying with my mom, upstairs, tonight since I am on call for work so I wanted to take advantage of the time.
I spent some time with the kids when I got home for about an hour or so and I could really tell they missed me. In the end I decided to forgo the meeting and just go upstairs with the kids and just be with them.
Mom made them hot chocolate and I just sat with them while they had that, but that was over with quickly and they wanted to play, especially my girl.
So we played.
We played run around and “boo” each other.
We played hide and seek and despite not many hiding places I learned how to trick the kids and I was able to go undiscovered, I gave up my hiding place after 5 or 10 minutes so that I would be able to use it again one day.
I also got mooned by my girl, my four-year-old girl. It was a full on, pants down, bent over type of moon, still not sure where she learned that from.
After all that my boy sat on the floor filling in his new calendar for 2010 and my girl sat with me as we read several short books. Then we said I love you and goodnight.
So what was the point behind this post? There isn’t one except to say that sometimes meetings get canceled for a reason and you end up being exactly where you should be.
